Pueblo Shooting Leads to Arrests: 18-Year-Old Charged with Attempted Murder After Late-Night Gunfire on S Grand Avenue

Two Injured in Pueblo Shooting; Suspects Arrested After Police Pursuit on South Grand Avenue

On April 10, 2026, at approximately 11:53 p.m., the Pueblo Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) monitored camera footage in the 200 block of S Grand Avenue following reports of a fight. An RTCC Technician observed a male passing a handgun to another male. The individual then aimed the firearm at nearby patrons and discharged it.

As a result of the gunfire, two individuals were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

Off Duty PPD Officers, witnessed the incident and identified the suspect vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and initiated a pursuit. 

The pursuit concluded with the vehicle stopping, leading to the apprehension of two suspects.

18-year-old Elijah Valdez was booked into the Pueblo County Jail on charges of Vehicular Eluding, Attempted First Degree Murder, and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender.

The second suspect, a juvenile male, was taken to Pueblo Youth Services.
