From Stolen Car to Illegal Firearm: Teens Arrested and Linked to Prior Incident

On Monday, April 13, 2026, at approximately 1:35 p.m., Pueblo Police Dispatch received a call that two juvenile males appeared to be looking in yards in the 2100 block of Hollywood Dr. The caller described the two juvenile males dressed in dark clothing and white tennis shoes, both with "Edgar" styled haircuts. One juvenile was reportedly seen with a firearm in his pocket.

Pueblo Police School Resource Officers (SRO’s) promptly responded to the area. The officers located a 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old male who matched the provided description.

The 14-year-old was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun with an illegal switch that could convert the weapon to fully automatic, along with a 30-round high-capacity magazine.

The 17-year-old juvenile had an outstanding no-bond felony warrant.

It was discovered that both juveniles were also involved in a separate incident that occurred on February 2, 2026, where PPD Officers were conducting follow-up investigations on stolen vehicles, and they observed a stolen Hyundai Sonata. Officers deployed a tire deflation device on the stolen Hyundai Sonata. However, the driver attempted to evade capture by striking one vehicle and then driving into oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle. The stolen Hyundai became inoperable at W. Northern Avenue and E. Evans Avenue. All three occupants, who were juvenile males, were transported to a hospital for medical treatment. An arrest warrant was authored and signed for the 17-year-old driver in this incident.

The 14-year-old was booked into Pueblo Youth Services (PYC) for possession of a handgun juvenile and possession of a large capacity magazine; the 17-year-old was booked into PYC for the felony warrant for Motor Vehicle Theft, Vehicular Eluding, Vehicular Assault - Reckless (5 counts).
