CAMPOSTRONG
It is truly impossible to put into words the emotions we have ridden like a rollercoaster over the last 48 hours. We went from worry, to feeling progress, to utter disappointment when the fires flared up again. That quickly turned into pure panic as we packed our most valuable possessions, facing the terrifying reality of leaving our homes not knowing if anything would be left when we returned.
There were moments when watching the billows of smoke rise at an astonishing rate and completely engulf our town made it feel as though it would succomb to the furious flames and was sure to cease to exist. But then, a glimmer of our stark white water tower would peek through the dark clouds, assuring us that our town was still standing.
We are still here. And we are here because of an outpouring of support and generosity that is truly remarkable. This is what community is about, and our community has been so incredibly blessed.
We want to extend our deepest, most heartfelt thank you to everyone who answered the call to save our little town:
• The Firefighters: Who came from all over the state, running toward the danger alongside our own local heroes.
• EMS & First Responders: For keeping everyone safe, patched up, and looked after during the chaos.
• Our Farmers & Ranchers: Who didn't hesitate to jump on their tractors, disc lines, and haul water into the heat.
• The Law enforcement officers: Who kept everyone safe so emergency vehicles could get where they needed to go and also made sure everyone got out safely.
• The Pilots: Who braved the intense smoke to bring in the jets and drop the relief we so desperately needed from above.
• The Lineman: Who came in and started making repairs immediately. We were so thankful to still have electricity when we returned.
• The Support Crews: Everyone who brought food and drinks to keep the front lines fueled, and the tire repair services who kept the rigs moving.
• Our Prayer Warriors: Especially to all those who kept us in their prayers through every terrifying moment. Your faith carried us when things felt hopeless.
To watch complete strangers work side-by-side with our local responders through rapidly moving fires and blinding smoke to save all they could... words simply aren’t enough.
We are still standing, and we are standing together. Thank you, from the very bottom of our hearts.
