Pueblo DUI Driver Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on W. Northern Avenue

Description: A 25-year-old Pueblo man was arrested on DUI, vehicular homicide, and hit-and-run charges after a fatal pedestrian crash on W. Northern Avenue. The victim died at the scene, marking Pueblo's third fatal pedestrian crash of 2026.
On Tuesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., the Pueblo Police Department received a report of a crash involving a pedestrian in the 600 block of W. Northern Ave.
Officers arrived and located the victim, who was pronounced deceased on scene. The involved vehicle fled the area but was followed by a witness who immediately contacted 911. Responding officers located the unoccupied vehicle in the 200 block of W. Northern Ave. The driver, identified as 25 year old Dahir Ortiz Espinoza, was found walking nearby and was taken into custody.
Ortiz Espinoza was arrested on the following charges: Vehicular Homicide, Failure to Remain at the Scene of a Fatal Crash, Failure to Report a Fatal Crash, Reckless Driving, and DUI.
The victim’s identity will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.
This incident marks the third fatal pedestrian crash and the ninth fatal traffic crash in the City of Pueblo in 2026.
