Obituary
Nita Lorene Scott, 84, passed away on June 6, 2026, at the hospital surrounded by her children following a lengthy illness.
Nita was born on December 20, 1941, in Springfield, Colorado, to James and Alice Davis. She grew up in Springfield with her four siblings, three older and one younger, and graduated from Springfield High School in 1960.
In 1957, Nita met Calvin Scott and the couple married on March 3, 1960, in Clayton, New Mexico. Together they built a life centered around family, farming and hard work while raising their four children; Cathy, Beth, Calvin Todd and Douglas.
As a farming wife and mother, Nita played an important role in supporting her family. In 1999, the family established Scott Farms Partnership where she supported her husband, sons and son-in-law and later her grandson in continuing the family operation.
In addition to her work on the farm, Nita worked part-time for several local hospitals in various caregiving roles, including as a nursing assistant and in home health care.
Nita is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Scott; her parents, James and Alice Davis; her four siblings; and her grandson, Toby Dale.
She is survived by her children; Cathy (Kerry) Tate, Beth (Dale) Kandt, Calvin Todd Scott and Douglas Scott, all of Walsh, Colorado; her granddaughters, Kellyn (Justin) Wilhite of Holly, Colorado, Taylor (Jason) Spitzer of Walsh, Colorado, and Candice Tate of Texhoma, Oklahoma; and her five great-grandchildren; Jacqueline, Mac, Isabel, Maggie and Livi.
Nita will be remembered for her dedication to her family, strong work ethic and caring nature.
