Minutes of the June 2 meeting
President Wayne Potter called the June meeting to order leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Rethabell Huff offered prayer. Twenty-five members were present. Everyone present was ready to eat before the meeting
Old Business
Jimmie Martinez attended the Lamar car show on May 16th . Weather will be good for
Cruising into Summer at Rocky Ford this coming Saturday. Wayne found out that the
Vault is closing its doors as of January 2027. The members agreed on a date even if in the middle of the week.
Wayne thanked Richard and Elaine Wittman for donating and cooking the hamburgers,
hot dogs for the hamburger fry. June 20th will be Inspiration Field car show at 3:00p.m.
and judging will be at 4:00. Greg Holt mentioned on June 24th that Casa Del Sol would like a drive through. We will take in Evergreen Gardens first at 10:00a.m. entering on the West side continuing on to Casa Del Sol finishing with a men’s BBQ at 12:00p.m.
June 26-28 is Rocky Mountain Nationals in Pueblo.
July 7th is the Ice Cream Social in the LJ City Park – same gazebo on 14th street.
July 18th is Missouri Day Parade, Fowler at 10:00a.m.
July 25th is both Crowley County Days Parade and McMillian car show in Ordway.
August 1st is Early Settler’s Day Parade at 10:00a.m.
August 4th Club meeting will be at DQ in Las Animas 6:30p.m.
August 14th AVF Parade in RF at 10:00a.m.
August 14-15 The Lamar car show
September 19th our car show in the LJ City Park
September 26th is the Tarantula Parade and Car show
Terry Menges brought up an upcoming car auction of the Late Kenny Bay which will be in Florissant, CO - Kenny was a collector of every model of Chevrolet car from the 60’s and 70’s.
Went over birthdays and anniversaries for the month.
Next cruise will be to Las Animas Wednesday June 17th – start at the LJ City Park at 6:00p.m.
Dale Robbins brought in a John Deere ground stake rain gauge/barometer to auction off. The bids went back and forth between James Huff and Richard Thomas with James winning the bid at $22.00.
A Thank You Card was given to Wayne with a gift certificate to Texas Road House.
Wayne thanked everyone present.
Meeting ended at 7:51p.m.
A really big “Thank You” to Karen Menges for the taking of minutes in my absence. Whatta gal!
The next meeting will be at La Junta City Park at 6:00 p.m. Bring something to go with your ice cream dish. Hope to see you all there.
